How to Layer Serums in Indian Summers

Indian summers bring heat, humidity and long hours in the sun. Heavy creams can feel sticky, and too many layers can leave skin feeling greasy. The good news: serums are light by design. Layered well, they give you a routine that feels comfortable even on the hottest days.

Rule 1: thinnest to thickest

Apply water-light serums first and richer textures last. A typical order is: face wash, watery serum, gel or lotion, then sunscreen in the morning. Give each layer about a minute to settle.

Rule 2: two serums are enough

In summer, less is more. Pick one serum for the morning and one for the night instead of stacking three or four. Your skin feels lighter and you can tell what is working.

Rule 3: keep strong actives for the night

Retinol and exfoliating acids belong in your night routine. They can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use them in the evening and never skip sunscreen the next morning. Do not use retinol and an exfoliating peel on the same night.

Rule 4: sunscreen is not optional

A matte, broad-spectrum SPF 50 is the most important summer step. Apply two finger-lengths for face and neck, 15 minutes before stepping out, and reapply every two hours outdoors.
